The Hiyama coupling is a palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of organosilanes with organic halides used in organic chemistry to form carbon–carbon bonds (C-C bonds). This reaction was discovered in by Tamejiro Hiyama and Yasuo Hatanaka as a method to form carbon-carbon bonds synthetically with chemo - and regioselectivity. [ 1 ].

Tamejiro Hiyama has created many novel carbon-carbon bond forming reactions mostly based on controlled generation and manipulation of hyper-cooridinate metal species. He was successful in conversion of gem -dibromocyclopropanes to differently gem -disubstituted cyclopropanes stereoselectively by treatment with dialkylcopperlithium and an.

Hitoshi Nozaki (野崎 一, Nozaki Hitoshi, – September 25, ), [1] sometimes spelled Hitosi, was a Japanese chemist specializing in the field of organic chemistry, known as the head of Japanese organic chemistry research, and one of the discoverers of Nozaki–Hiyama–Kishi reaction. Hiyama coupling -
Provides a unique summary of important catalytic reactions in the presence of silicon A must-have for all synthetic chemists, this book summarizes all of the important developments in the application of organosilicon compounds in organic synthesis and catalysis. Edited by two world leaders in the field, it describes different approaches and covers a broad range of reactions, e.g. catalytic.
